You’re extremely talented, and you don’t get paid enough for this.

That said, THT is about to get massively overpaid if someone pulls him from the Lakers. My favorite solution to Bulls wing depth is to sign a vet of the caliber of Wes Matthews or Otto, give Troy Brown a chance to develop (and not hold our breath), and wait for a more ideal situation. No sense spending money just to spend it.

Thanks! Yeah this is why I like the trade market over signing someone in free agency. If they do sign someone, it should ideally only be for a year so that they can address a more long-term solution next year when they will have a LOT more cap space and a much better crop of free agents as well.

Totally agree. This is why the dreaded “we love flexibility” talk that Gar harped on is actually valuable in the hands of someone like AK who actually makes moves. Gives space to strike when there is actually an ideal FA available.

Hey Stephen, great piece as always. Thanks very much for putting the best newsletter out there on the bulls.

I’m not that excited about any of the wings out there not named Kawhi, or DeRosen (who is very undervalued….but brings zero D on a team that starts Coby, Zach, and Vooch (I still think the Vooch trade is going to bite us in the ass…we should have done an “OKC” or “Rockets”), though I agree with you that Josh Richardson or THT would be good fits. The rest of the Powells of this world will prolly resign.

So how about trying to get the Warriors 14th as they’re not going use that probably and getting take a flyer on a playmaking wing like Jaden Springer, Josh Giddey, etc?

I like the idea but I think the Warriors are aiming for bigger names than anything the Bulls can offer. Maybe they'd do it and offload some salary to cut their tax payments for Thad Young?

Yeap! Wholeheartedly agree or maybe Theis? I don’t want to flog a dead horse, but this was such a perfect opportunity to tank and get one of those top 5 even if it meant tagging on a pick or Wendell or anyone on the bulls not named Zach or P-Dub if we ended up 6-8….but we keep screwing up. I mean that’s where we ended up WITH Vooch. We’re going to be better for sure next year but in the Play-in purgatory hell at best until his contract is up in two years. What’s the point, when we could have set ourselves up for the next decade with a stud in Patrick Williams’ ( and maybe Coby’s) timeline.

It’s also worth noting that although I’m a fan of Arturas, his comment about teams desperate to get into the playoffs at the trade deadline seemed to be pointing a finger at himself, because it’s clear he was prepared to do anything to get Vooch by taking thr terrible Aminu contract which basically means we’re paying Vooch 30 million a year. He’s not that kind of player. And no more “two all-stars” please. There’s zero chance Vooch is an all star if the team is selected on a positionless roster. Not sure that Zach would make it either after Trae’s playoffs ahead of Bam amd Jimmy either.

I hope to be eating humble pie on Tuesday as we get a top two pick!
