What the Bulls should do in free agency
Spending options, targets that make sense, best path going forward
Well, I promised in my last newsletter on Nikola Vucevic’s extension options that I wouldn’t use this newsletter to redirect to my Bulls stuff at The Sporting News. But many people reached out to me asking me to do just that! If that’s an issue, please do leave me a comment as I would hate to spam people.
Here’s my Sporting News Bulls free agency guide, covering what they should do with their own guys and which new faces they can bring in. I’ve also added in yet another plea to break up the core which will go ignored.
If you want a straight list instead, here’s the cliffs notes bonus version of players to target/let go for Noh’s Notebook subscribers:
Point guards: Jevon Carter, Dennis Schroder, Gabe Vincent, Cory Joseph, Patrick Beverley
Backup bigs: Mo Bamba (team option), Thomas Bryant, Paul Reed (restricted), Dario Saric, Drummond
Wings: Donte DiVincenzo, Max Strus, Josh Richardson, Jalen McDaniels, Keita Bates-Diop, Torrey Craig, Yuta Watanabe
Shooters: Seth Curry, Damian Lee, Joe Ingles, Georges Niang, Malik Beasley (team option), Jae Crowder
Advice for own free agents: Bring back Coby if less than $45 million over 4 years, sounds like Drummond is gone, let Ayo Dosunmu, Patrick Beverley, Derrick Jones Jr. and Javonte Green walk if you can replace them with any of the cheap shooter targets.
Ayo will join a growing list of former Bulls playing solid roles on playoff teams.
Thanks for pointing us in the direction of your post. It’s a lot more direction than the Bulls seem to be heading in. Jeesh it’s depressing being a bulls fan. We’re destined to be the new Hornets or pre draft Portland!
